Mystery Escape Room at The Gateway Hosts First Downton Abbey Escape Room
NBCUniversal International Studios and Mystery Escape Room will open the first officially licensed escape room experience in the world based on the global television phenomenon Downton Abbey™. The site at The Gateway is scheduled to open this summer and is being built to closely match the set of the popular series. The “mystery” will be based on the beloved characters from the series.
NBCUniversal has entrusted one of its most popular properties to the care of Mystery Escape Room. The creators’ goal is to transport participants to the world of Downton Abbey in a hands-on, immersive way. In the Escape Room experience, participants will be able to touch the set pieces and interact with each other, as if they were playing characters on set.
“The recognizable surroundings of Downton will act to heighten tension for fans within the well-known experience of mystery escape rooms,” said Dominic Burns, SVP, Brand Management for NBCUniversal International Studios. “This is a growing genre of immersive entertainment and we expect fans of the show to be thrilled and challenged during their visit.”
This world premiere opening is coming this summer and tickets will go on sale around Memorial Day weekend at https://www.mysteryescaperoom.com/.
“We are very excited and humbled to be working with a media giant like NBCUniversal to bring the drama of the beloved television series Downton Abbey to life in one of our escape rooms,” said Leslie Pardew, owner of Mystery Escape Room. “The show is perfect for the experience because Downton Abbey is such a wonderful place and has such a rich set of characters and stories to draw from. We look forward to transporting our guests into the Downton Abbey world in a truly fun and unique way.”
“As a hub for specialty interactive experiences, we’re proud to have this addition to our roster of entertainment and art exhibits here at The Gateway,” says Jacklyn Briggs marketing director. “This is a big deal and we can’t wait to invite people down to experience this world premiere event.”
